WHILE their first teams were claiming two good scalps (see back page), Chepstow and Sudbrook's 2nd XIs continued their own good run of results.
Chepstow, away to Abergavenny, lost the toss and were asked to bat first.
Josh Tregaskes scored 63 with Edward Hepworth (21), Tuhin Gavand (23), James Bostock top-scored with 68 and Jonathan Huws (32) set them on the way to a defendable total of 226-6.
Lewys Jones contributed 17 runs to that total but it was with the ball, that the youngster excelled, taking five wickets for 29 runs as Abergavenny slumped to 112 all out.
Chepstow Seconds' skipper Huw Rogers said Tregaskes was showing promise as an opening batsman.
"Josh is looking really strong as our new opener and he punished any bad ball," he said
"James Bostock and Jon Huws formed an excellent middle order partnership taking us to a good total.
"In reply Abergavenny had a good start before our father and son combo Rob Jones (2-26) and Lewys took the game our way.
"Cameron Rees, making his debut for us, took 2-1 to apply the coup de gras."
Meanwhile, at Mill Lane, Sudbrook Seconds also enjoyed a comprehensive victory, restricting Newbridge to 166-9 and then reaching 170 in the 30th over for the loss of only one wicket
