CONSULTATIONS on the proposed changes to the M4 drew in hundreds to Magor Baptist Church last week, as visitors got their first glimpse at the designs.
Swathes of information were on offer at the event, which ran from Wednesday 16th to Thursday 17th September.
Of the event, a Welsh Government spokesperson said: “This month’s public information exhibitions are an opportunity for the public to see the proposals for improvements to the M4 Corridor around Newport.
“All exhibitions are being well attended and staff are on hand to talk people through matters such as the route, the junctions, the benefits, land acquisition processes, environmental issues and their mitigation. The exhibitions conclude at the Lysaght Institute on Friday 25th and Saturday 26th September. All are encouraged to attend.”
The team behind the consultations are keeping quiet for now about the possibility of compulsory purchase orders on houses in the village, first spoke about when older plans were published.
Those visiting the consultation in Magor seemed largely positive about the plans, claiming closer links to the M4, and the relief of heavy traffic from the village would be welcome benefits of the alterations.
