The enthusiastic recyclers at Osbaston School are now helping to keep crisp packets out of landfill!

The school has become the official drop-off point for the unrecycleable crisp packets that currently cannot be put into home recycling collections and usually end up in incinerators or landfill.

Now the school is one of the 10,948 collection centres in the country for Terracycle’s Crisp Packet Recycling Scheme and individuals, community groups, charities and companies can now call by the school during school hours and leave their crisp packets.

Any brand of crisp packet can be sent in, but popcorn bags, crisp tubes, pretzel bags and meat snack bags are not accepted in this scheme.

Once received by TerraCycle, crisp packets are sorted and separated by material composition. The separated items are then cleaned, shredded, and made into new recycled products.

Crisp manufacturers Walkers are aiming to use recycleable packets by 2025, so until then go back to school and leave them there!
