CHEPSTOW resident Paul Hallifax successfully completed his walk of the length of Wales on Thursday 27th September.

66-year-old Paul reached his home in Beachley after 12 days of walking 177-miles along the old border between England and Wales from Prestatyn.

Watched closely by his social media followers, Paul gained large amounts of support from Facebook group Sedbury, Beachley and Tutshill Community Group, and raised a total of £1075 for the Alzheimer’s Society.

He said: “It was an amazing experience with many memories to keep with me for the rest of my life. I met lots of lovely people along the way including walkers from USA, Canada, Germany, Netherlands, Australia and, of course, from all corners of the UK. There was a real sense of ‘camaraderie’ amongst all doing this walk and everyone stopped to share stories about their experiences along the walk, or why they were doing it.

“Having seen the distress caused by dementia first hand, I have decided to support a charity that is focused on providing essential support and trying to alleviate some of the suffering by all those it impacts. The Alzheimer’s Society was the obvious choice. It’s great to think that I will be raising funds to help support people living with dementia now and to fund research to one day find a cure for dementia.”
