On Sunday 19th October, Chepstow Harriers women won the first Gwent Leisure Centre League cross country race of the season, held at Pontypool park.
Chepstow's male team were second.
The course was fiercely hilly, all off-road, muddy, and with stream crossings to challenge the runners. 10 teams from South East Wales took part in the race, with a total of 187 runners.
After the race, the prize presentation for the 2013/ 2014 cross country and road running series of the Gwent Leisure Centre League was held at the Pontypool Leisure Centre.
Chepstow Harriers men and women picked up the trophy for winning the overall 2013/ 2014 cross country and road running series of the Gwent Leisure Centre League.
There were many individual podium positions too. In the road series, prize winners were: Helen Duffield 2nd Female Vet 40, Sophie Gilbert 3rd Female Vet 40, Niki Morgan 1st Female Vet 45, Teresa Tranter 1st Female Vet 60, James Blore 3rd Senior Man, Paul Murrin 3rd Male Vet 40, Paul Dodd 2nd Male Vet 55, Gareth Jones 1st Male Vet 60, Dave Andrews 2nd Male Vet 60 and Geoff Bayliss 3rd Male Vet 60.
The podium positions in the combined series were 2nd overall male and female, James Blore and Niki Morgan.
Scorers on the day for the men were James Blore, Pete Ward, Matthew Lawson, Stuart Penny, Paul Lidgett, and Laurie Carter. Scorers for the women were Jane Horler, Niki Morgan, Vanessa Lawson and Sarah Bell.
