HONOURS were even as the sixth international between Wales over 60s and England over 60s ended 2-2 at Mathern on Sunday.

The match, played in great spirit as always, was a see-saw affair with England taking the lead against the run of play on 22 minutes when Ken Pollock slid the ball past Wales's debutant keeper Tony Jones.

But the lead was short-lived as Wales equalised five minutes later, Mick Algieri

chipping the ball over the England keeper.

Ten minutes before half time, ex-Mathern player Andre Burt put Wales ahead with a curling 20-yard drive and Wales hung on until a dubious penalty in the closing minutes gave Rob Beel the chance to level from the spot.

The record between the two sides now reads Wales two wins, England two wins and two matches drawn.
