WITH Severn Bridge's home clash with Severn Tunnel B ruled out by a waterlogged pitch, Underwood took the chance to close in on the leaders Chepstow Town B.

Underwood won 3-1 at Caldicot Town thanks to goals by Elliot Camfield, Rob Williams and Jamie Richardson but manager Craig Johnson admitted it was a hard battle.

"We were behind 1-0 for an hour with our worst performance of the season," he said.

"But the boys dug deep in the last 30 minutes. It was good to see my players dig deep even when we aren't playing at our best.

"Our aim is to keep the pressure on Chepstow Town and hopefully reclaim top place."

Tintern Abbey B beat visiting Portskewett & Sudbrook 4-3 with goals from Darren Luff, Neil Mackie, Lee Davis and Joe Whitehouse.

Player-manager Jeff Whitehouse was pleased because his team played the last 25 minutes without two players after they were red-carded.

Steve Lovell (2) and Russ Griffiths scored for the visitors.

Mathern B boss Gary Burchill was also pleased with a 5-1 win at Caldicot Castle B.

"It was a comfortable win against experienced campaigners," he said.

"We went ahead through Jack Fear's header but they equalised after 20 minutes.

"Scott Hollow restored the lead and Gareth Moore made it 3-1.

"Subs Ash Pearce and Jake Wilson added the extra two goals to seal the win."
