PENALLT made good use of the fine autumn weather and had a teenage tournament on Friday evening and a ladies’ doubles tournament on Sunday.
The teenage tournament was for the younger group of teenagers.
The players were Archie Forbes, James Blair, Rory and Ewan Walters, Harry Beattie, Lizzie Widdicks, Jago Harling, Ollie Williams, Milly Taylor and Emily Farrington.
They played an American style doubles tournament so that by the end of the evening they had played with and against the other competitors.
There were many lengthy rallies and some good ball placement, some excellent and powerful returns of serve and only a few double faults.
The tennis was of an impressive standard and the results were close. Archie was the winner with 14, Harry Beattie came second with 13, Emily finished on 11, Ollie on 10 and Jago and Lizzie on nine with the others very close behind. The older teenagers have their tournament this next Friday 14th October.
Nine pairs entered the ladies’ doubles tournament. It was a round robin type of tournament. The pairs were Nicky Hutchings and Ginny Higgins, Lynne Morris and Rosie Adams, Karen Rollings and Sally Williams, Jane Bryan and Alison Wright, Sue Dean and Cheryl Blair, Katie Farrington and Rachel Widdicks, Emma Forbes and Alison O’Doherty, Julia Gregson and Alex Pownall and Joan Hollick and Jutta Hadfield.
