DEVAUDEN cyclist Lewis Oliva has been shortlisted as Sportsman of the Year in the British Universities and Colleges Sport (BUCS) Awards 2017.

Oliva is balancing studying medicine as a full time student at Cardiff University whilst being a full time cyclist. He has had a busy year, competing at the UCI Track Cycling World Cups and winning a bronze medal in Glasgow. Lewis also became National Keirin Champion at the British Track Cycling Championships held in Manchester, and made his World Championships debut at the UCI Track Cycling World Championships in Hong Kong.

He will be competing for the award against rugby players Sebastian Negri from Hartpury College and Will Edwards from Loughborough University.

The winner will be announced at the 2017 BUCS Awards Dinner held at the University of Hertfordshire on 13th July.

The BUCS Awards recognise the achievements and successes of athletes and teams as well as acknowledging the contribution from volunteers, club officials and coaches who support and develop university sport.
