UNDERWOOD SC won the inaugural Castle-Wood Cup on Sunday when they beat their hosts Caldicot Castle 27-18 following a penalty shoot-out.

The Castle-Wood Annual Cup is the result of cooperation which has developed between the two clubs over recent seasons.

Both clubs entered into the fun of the event which will be held at Underwood next year.

The wet weather which threatened the success of the event cleared soon after the start and Castle's secretary Sian Adams said everyone was delighted with the event.

"We aim to build it, year by year, into a real family day out," she said.

"We had music, food, there was a barbecue after the games and we kept the interest by combining all the scores of the matches between the two clubs and then held a penalty shoot-out at the end. It was a lot of fun."
