CHEPSTOW and District Swimming Club had a special visitor at their awards presentation evening on Saturday (12th November) as Olympic swimmer Jazz Carlin presented the awards held at Chepstow Rugby Club.

Carlin, who won two silver medals at the 2016 Olympic Games in Rio, attended the evening, presenting prizes and posing for photos with the young swimmers.

Club chairman Chris Haeffner said the evening was a “really good night.”

“It was a surprise for everyone,” he said.

“Jazz presented all the swimmers with prizes.

“She came down and really engaged with everyone, for lots of the younger swimmers she is their idol.

“She ate with us, drank with us. It was a really good night for everyone.

“She of course brought her medals with her, and the children held them and wore them.

“She really was a consummate professional.”
