TWO days after St David's Day, the salmon and trout season opened in Wales.
It didn't bring the balmy spring weather some from the Wye and Usk Foundation were hoping for, with a spot of snow greeting those out and about on the first morning.
Despite this winter weather, the weekend saw both rivers high and clear, with them dropping throughout the week.
With no salmon reported on the first two days, the earliest catch is currently a 21 and a half lb fish from Weirend, Ross.
Caught by Jonathan Daniels, he won himself a bottle of Champagne, with the bottle for the first Usk catch still up for grabs.
With the water continuing to drop and fair weather forecast, there will be plenty of opportunity to land some fish.
There have been sporadic hatches of Olives and a few March Browns seen at Builth and at Brecon but trout are only rarely seen on on the surface.
The Taff has so far produced these best trout fishing though few would complain if it was a bit warmer.
