YOUNGSTERS at Monmouth Rugby Club were excited to meet a squad of international rugby stars this week.
Wales under 20s held an open training session on Monday (16th May) and held a session with junior players yesterday (17th May). The session was followed by a barbecue for the players and host families.
The sessions were part of Wales under 20’s preparation for the upcoming World Rugby U20 Championship in Manchester from 7th to 25th June.
Wales head coach Jason Strange said last week: “The players have all come through junior clubs themselves so it’s important we retain close links with grassroots clubs.
“The players are staying with families so hopefully holding an open training session will give those families and the rest of the local community a chance to see our team preparation for themselves and the support will help the players as they prepare for their biggest challenge yet in Manchester in a few weeks’ time.”
