WITH women's football expanding all the time, the girl's section of Ross Juniors FC will make a trip to Wembley on 23th November to see England Ladies play Germany Ladies.

As part of an expected 55,000 strong crowd, the club will see an historic game as it is the first time England Ladies will have played at the famous venue.

On the pitch, players are becoming increasingly famous and take part in a competitive Premier League, reflecting the expansion Ross Juniors FC has seen itself.

Set up in 2012, the girl's section initially began with just 8 players. It now boasts more than 90 players on its books and has teams from under 8's through to under 16's.

The club has players from all over the region with Monmouth well represented along with villages from the Forest of Dean.

One of the new Under 16 coaches, Dave Johnson from Monmouth, said "My daughter Ellie has always loved playing football but for the past 7 years has been unable to find a suitable local girls team.

It was a great relief to find a very welcoming and well organised club within easy reach.

"I was surprised to see so many other girls from Monmouth playing for Ross too; they had played mixed team football to a certain age, but were unable to play alongside boys beyond the permitted age level.

"It is very encouraging to see they have not drifted out of the game and are still enjoying their football."
