IT was a mixed weekend for Monmouth’s circket teams headlined by the 1st XI’s win against Newbridge CC by eights wickets.

The game saw some fine bowling performances from Sam Brennan (2), Peter Keay (3) & Will Wilton (2) with notable batting from Adam Roberts (33) and Henry Sullivan (27).

There was less success for the Monmouth 2nd XI whicharrived at Abergavenny to find out match had been cancelled without warning.

Monmouth 3rd XI informed earlier in the week that theirmmatch was conceded but with the notice were able to arrange a friendly against Bristol Hill CC, which was lost.

Monmouth Friendly 4ths, on Sunday, played a touring side from Watford called Chippervale CC.

Whilst the result did not go Monmouth’s way, it was a hugely enjoyable experience for all, including Henry Sullivan who again bagged himself 53 before retiring (see pic of the teams and Henry)

This weekend will see Monmouth finish the league season playing; Undy & Magor, Sudbrook & Glangrwyney whilst the Friendly 4ths will be playing.

Sunday will also see Monmouth host the Dave Uttley game whereby the cricket club will play Monmouth Town Football club as part of its handover and to commemorate the life of Dave Uttley.
