MONMOUTH Town chairman Lee Robson has confirmed that manager Andrew Smith will continue in the role for 2015/16.

He said: "It was always going to be difficult following our title win in 13/14, moving to a new ground, a pretty poor pre-season and a lot of disruption with fixtures, but 'Smudger' has kept his nerve and the team have done well in patches.

"Clearly we need to improve in some areas and 'Smudger' is the man to lead us into the next phase of what we want to do."

Town will be releasing dates soon for academy trials at age 12, 14 and 16, and are also planning to enter a development side at under-19 level, competing against Welsh Premier teams.

"It's still very difficult to run the academy without UEFA funding which other clubs get, but we're still here – just.

"I know there are a lot of issues that we still need to resolve, but parents and the players have been very supportive, despite things not going as well as we'd like."

Monmouth Town's under-19s just failed to go top of the Youth League drawing 2–2 with Taffs Well in a thrilling game at Penypound last week.
