SUDBROOK and Chepstow Cricket Clubs' second XIs enjoyed varied success over the weekend, with the former coming out of the fixtures by far the happiest.
Sudbrook saw success at home to Welsh Asian seconds thanks to Matt Spencer's 62 and contributions from Greg Shaw (29 not out) and James Kinchin (21 not out).
After winning the toss and electing to bat, Welsh Asians were all out for 126 with Jon Clements taking 3-12 and five maidens in his nine overs.
There were also excellent contributions from Ben Supple (2-32-0-7), Matthew Burton, who took two wickets for seven runs in 11 deliveries and Nathan Thomas (2-39-0-6). Even those who didn't get a wicket, bowled tightly, conceding just 33 runs between them in 11 overs
Meanwhile Chepstow seconds lost to Newbridge 2nds by just one wicket.
Chepstow won the toss and decided to bat first, Scott Bailey (15) and Jamie Rayner (28) giving them a reasonable start but despite David Bennett's 63 and Josh Tregaskes' 20 they were all out for 190.
In reply Tregaskes took 3-31 and Tuhin Gavand took 3-38 but Newbridge's Andrew Evans steered them to 191 all out with a fine 55 not out assisted by Shaun Collier (35) and Elliot Jenkins (31).
