THE Black Rock lave net fishermen have had an eventful start to their 2015 season.

An engine failure which could not be repaired in the short term (luckily onshore) with fishing tide approaching saw the fishermen rushing to Swansea to purchase a "new" engine.

Then for the first two days of the season the wind blew a gale, gusting to 40mph on the estuary, which delayed the launch of the boat.

However when fishing started the group quickly caught two salmon with Rob Evans catching the first.

A seal has also been seen passing through the fishing grounds several times.

The fishermen will exhibit at the Magor marsh open day on 11th July making lave nets and fishing baskets.
