More than 200 runners came to Undy to race the Magor Marsh 10k organised by Chepstow Harriers last Sunday (27th July). The fast, flat course, all on the road, attracts both a quality field of experienced runners trying to achieve personal best times, and also fun runners. The warm weather made racing challenging, but everyone who started the course managed to finish. There was a win for Chepstow, with Jane Horler pipping Clara Evans to the finish line by two seconds, to claim the first lady prize. The winner was Steve Davies, from Belgrave in a very quick time of 33 minutes, 51 seconds. Lee Aherne of Les Croupiers was second in 34.30, closely followed by Daniel Bodnan from Aberdare in 34.51. Jane Horler from Chepstow Harriers was first lady in 38.46, second lady was Clara Evans from Pontypridd Roadents in 38.48 and third lady was Julie Poole from Clevedon AC in 39.42. Chepstow Harriers who competed in the race were Jane Horler, Lisa Jeffrey, Danielle Sapsford, Karen Elvers, Geoff Cram, Paul Mayo, Andy Silk, Lisa Morgan, Rob Brown and Daphne Austerberry. Race director Bill Bewg said: "This race is popular as people can try to get a good time for the distance, because it's a fast, flat course on tarmac. "Many runners have achieved personal best times on the Magor Marsh course. The event went smoothly today, and hopefully all the runners enjoyed it and went away happy."
