Chepstow Town Manager Jason Thorne hailed his side's performance against the league leaders simply as 'Heroes in Blue Shirts' - in what proved to be a bruising encounter away from home.
Teamwork, self-belief and fair play have been the squad's motto from the start of the new season and not one player let either this or his club badge down.
Chepstow's captain, Harry Martyn, was a menace all afternoon for the home side, who simply could not handle his skill or vision on the ball. Fellow midfielders Reg Bynon, Oliver Hayes and Ethan Dunscombe were all on the wrong end of some harsh challenges that saw an early warning given to the home side.
Harry Thorne tested the home keeper early on following an exceptional through ball by Ben Thomas that produced a fine save. Chepstow keeper and Man of The Match, James Maris-King, pictured right, matched the home side shot for shot early on, together with a fine defensive performance from Charlie Price, Rhys Brooks, Louis Bibby, Ellis Roberts and George McCarron.
The half time score line of 2-0 was a bitter blow after a battling performance from the away side for the first 35 minutes of play.
Joe Hopkins and Alzares Stephens made some late in the game powerful runs down the wings that sadly could not be put in the back of the net.
Although the away side lost this challenging encounter every Chepstow Town player walked off the field knowing that they played their hearts out with the spirit, determination and respect that had been asked of them by the fellow team coaches of Paul Roberts and Andy Bynon.
