CHEPSTOW Harriers women won the last cross country race at Rogerstone School in Newport on Sunday 15 March, also winning the five race Leisure Centre Cross-Country Series overall.

Chepstow Harriers men were second on the day and second in the series overall which had ten running clubs from south east Wales participating taking part.

The women's team captain said "I am thrilled that we have won the series overall. It gets more and more competitive each year, with a strong field from other clubs.

"This season has been especially challenging, and we've needed to have our best runners turning out in force in order to keep ahead.

"The team have done brilliantly and we hope to continue our winning streak in the forthcoming road series which starts in May."

As well as team success, there were many individual awards for those who came first, second or third in their age category.

These awards went to Sarah Bell, Berna Cantwell, Joc Dodd, Vanessa Lawson, Niki Morgan, Teresa Tranter, Rob Hook, Paul Dodd, Jane Bayliss, Kevin Mcentee and Geoff Cram.
