CHEPSTOW Harriers took all bar one of the prizes at their club championship race in Horton on Sunday 18th October.
Twelve Harriers took part in the race, with five winning their age categories. The Horton Bull run in south Gloucestershire is a six mile, multi-terrain race with plenty of hills to tax the legs and lungs.
First Harrier home and fourth overall in the race was Paul Dodd who won his 55+ age category. The second Harrier was Rob Hook who also won the male veteran 45+ prize. Then followed Gareth Jones, Dave Andrews and Brett Regulski.
Niki Morgan was first female in the race, with Danielle Sapsford coming third and winning her age category. Then followed Lisa Jeffrey, Berna Cantwell, Brenda Avery, Karen Elvers and Joc Dodd. Brenda Avery also won her age category.
Free bacon butties, cakes and tea and coffee awaited the runners at the finish – a fine reward for their efforts.
Chepstow Harriers have one race a month in their club championship, and the races always attract many members keen to compete with their fellow club-mates and accumulate points. Harrier Niki Morgan said “The club champs races are always excellent social occasions as well as offering a great opportunity for Harriers to challenge themselves against their club rivals. They foster a good sense of camaraderie and competition and are a highlight of our club’s activities.”
