Chepstow Ladies took on Llan & Llan away last Saturday (9th November).
Llan & Llan pushed back and drove forward convincingly at the first whistle.
Chepstow intercepted and switched the ball round the back and out right to gain ground.
Llan & Llan replied in numbers, chasing Chepstow down and clearing the ball off the pitch.
Chepstow learnt quickly that Llan & Llan had big voices and big hits and concentrated on keeping possession and not forcing the ball, getting them a few attempts at goal.
Chepstow's defence held their own, man marking and clearing Llan & Llan's breaks into the D. While Chepstow were unlucky to not convert in the first half, they remained dominant in attack against a solid Llan & Llan midfield and defence.
Both teams returned to the pitch fresh after half-time with 0-0 on the board and everything to play for.
Chepstow pushed back and took on Llan & Llan's midfield with skill as they drove at goal, where a shot on was narrowly missed. Llan & Llan were on the back foot as Chepstow intercepted their hit out and worked back into the D but were tackled and the ball was cleared for a Llan & Llan counterattack. Chepstow tracked back as Williams, Barclay and Baker stepped up to intervene and won the ball back.
Play was fiercely competitive with both sides working hard to take possession and gain ground.
Chepstow's skill was outstanding as Llan & Llan were being pulled up for fouls resulting in a short corner for Chepstow. Moore received the ball at top D, and her beautiful strike was put away by Williams on left post.
Chepstow upped the tempo and the team were working as a unit to get another attempt at goal. Llan & Llan were determined but tired as they gave away another short corner for feet in the D.
This time Baker injected and Williams joined Moore at top D after losing Eburne to injury minutes earlier.
Baker injected and Williams struck at right post, where Gabby Antrum was poised and ready to convert the deflection.
A triumphant Chepstow continued working hard and pushing Llan & Llan out of the game to close out a well deserved 2-0 win.
Chepstow's defence have to be congratulated for not allowing one straight strike to hit the keeper's pads other than the odd well-saved deflection from Knox.
They take on Milford Haven at home on Saturday (16th November).
