THE Severn Bridge Half Marathon and the Severn Bridge Sportive, which both take place on Sunday 30 August, will share the closed old Severn Bridge. The runners will use the eastbound carriageway, whilst the cyclists use the westbound carriageway. Whilst these two events are not connected, the race organisers have worked together with the bridge authorities to allow these two great sporting events to co-exist on the closed M48 motorway from Junction 1 to 2.
Race organiser Paul Dodd said “We are thrilled that the Severn Bridge Half Marathon and the Severn Bridge Sportive will be filling up both sides of the carriageway. This will be a top day for local sport and is bound to generate lots of excitement. It will be quite a spectacle to see competitors running and cycling between sea and sky, from one country to another on the iconic old Severn Bridge.”
