CALDICOT Town soared to the top of the Ardal South East League with a 2-1 win at Treowen Stars thanks to a Leo Ross brace on Saturday.

League leaders Abertillery Bluebirds followed a 6-0 humbling at home to Goytre with a 1-1 draw at Monmouth Town, allowing the Swans to profit by claiming top spot on goal difference.Towards the other end of the table, local rivals Chepstow Town secured a share of the points with a late leveller at bottom side Tredegar Town on Friday night, to secure a 2-2 draw.Abergavenny Town went third with a 2-1 win at Trethomas Bluebirds after a brace by prolific striker Dan Macdonald.And they next face a table top crunch clash at derby rivals Goytre this Friday evening (November 26), who are fourth with games in hand after handing out a second straight 6-0 thrashing, this time to visitors Aberbargoed Buds.In JD Cymru South, second-to-bottom Undy Athletic earned a much-needed 2-1 win at Cwmbran Celtic - their third win in 15 - but are still four points adrift of Risca United one place above them. Chepstow Town’s 2nd XI moved out of the bottom two in the FAW Cymru Reserves South East League with a thumping 5-1 home win over bottom side Newport City.And league leaders Undy Athletic edged a tight battle with visitors Abergavenny Town 2-1 to keep the gap to second-placed Caldicot Town - 5-2 winners at home to Monmouth - at three points.High-flying Usk Town drew 2-2 at mid-table Crickhowell in Gwent Premier Division Two, Harry Wade and Sam Duly hitting the target. But the 2nd XI, who sit just two points above bottom side Clydach Wasps in Gwent Central Division One, were walloped 8-0 at second-placed Fairfield United.East Gwent Division One leaders Thornwell R&W hammered hosts Undy Athletic 3rds 9-0 to open the gap to four points over second-placed Portskewett & Sudbrook, who were held 1-1 by hosts Caldicot Town 3rds.Third-placed Caldicot Castle blitzed visitors Severn Tunnel 7-2, while Monmouth’s Rockfield Rovers won 3-1 at home to Sudbrook CC.Leaders Underwood won a 6-4 thriller at Chepstow Town 3rds in Division Two, but second-placed Mathern lost ground as they were beaten 3-0 at third-placed Sudbrook CC 2nds.Tintern Abbey won 5-3 at fellow mid-table outfit Portskewett & Sudbrook 2nds, and in the bottom of the table clash Chepstow Athletic saw off visitors Caldicot Castle 2nds 4-2.Fixtures this weekend include - Treowen Stars v Chepstow Town, Trethomas Bluebirds v Caldicot Town, Goytre v Abergavenny Town (Friday night), Caldicot Town 2nds v Newport City 2nds, Undy Athletic 2nds v Pontypridd Town 2nds, Tredegar Town 2nds v Abergavenny Town 2nds, Usk Town v Cwmffrwdoer Sports, Cwmffrwdoer Sports 2nds v Usk Town 2nds.
