CHEPSTOW Town bounced back from losing second place to high-flying local rivals Caldicot in a 3-2 loss the previous week with a last-gasp 2-1 win in a chaotic finish at Brecon Corries.
Corey Evans put Corries in front on 13 minutes in Saturday’s fiery Ardal South East clash before Christian O'Donnell levelled on the half hour.
That's how it stayed until the end of 90 minutes, by which time Corries were down to 10 men and the Jockeys had missed a penalty.
Then in an incredible finale, six yellow cards were followed by a red for Chepstow's Harry Whitehouse and a red for kit and equipment manager Matthew Jackson, before 11 minutes into added time Sonny Lewis set up sub Malique West to score the winner.
The drama wasn't even over yet, as Adam Wakley for Chepstow and Liam Macanally for Brecon both then received their marching orders, with another yellow flourished for good measure, and the game finishing nine aside.
Treowen Stars are already champions, but it's down to three Monmouthshire sides who get the chance to go up with them.
The Swans thumped Abercarn 8-1 at the weekend to stay second, but the Jockeys still have the whip hand with two games in hand over their rivals, who only have one match left, while Goytre in fifth just have enough games in hand to catch both.
Chepstow host Blaenavon on Friday night (May 2) before Goytre come calling the following Tuesday (May 6).
Meanwhile, at Larkfield Park on Saturday, Chepstow Town’s 2nds won 1-0 at home to Trethomas Bluebirds thanks to a 19th-minute Bailey Hobbs penalty.
Elsewhere, Redbrook Rovers suffered a 5-2 last game midweek loss away to Staunton & Corse 2nds, Ieaun Frost and Cameron Davies with two second half consolations, but can take satisfaction from finishing in the top half of North Gloucestershire One.
Their 2nds finished bottom of NG2 where two points covered the bottom four, but signed off with a 6-3 win at Rank Outsiders.
