South Wales Women and Girls League - Tredegar 0 Severn Tunnel Ladies 13

FOUR goals apiece from Mikaela Thomas and Sarah Bailey set Severn Tunnel Ladies on the way to a 13-0 win at Tredegar on Sunday.

Further strikes by sisters Taylor (3) and Taran Fitzgerald as well as skipper Nat Rostron completed the scoring.

Once again Bailey, who stands five foot tall in her football boots and wears the Number Two shirt, scored three of her goals with her head.

“It was all down to Shauna Pentney’s corners,” she said later.

“The Tredegar captain kept telling the defenders to ‘all mark the number two’ which was funny.

“I scored one with my feet too which was nice - that’s 10 for the season now.”

Meanwhile, in the Welsh Women’s League, there was disappointment for Caldicot Town Ladies who drew 3-3 at Splott Ladies in Cardiff.

Manager Luke Harris said the result was especially disappointing because Town had dominated the game but allowed their hosts to take a 3-1 lead with seven minutes to go.

“Three errors cost us but it was pleasing to score twice in the last seven minutes to earn a point,” he said later.

“We showed a lot of character and we’ll need that when we face a tough test against Barry Town United.”

Caldicot’s scorers were Hazel Lockwood (2) and Rianne Jones.

The Town’s next match is at home this Sunday when second-placed Barry Town United visit, kick-off is at 2pm.
