CHEPSTOW Racecourse's evening meeting on Tuesday 30th June took place in warm sunny weather, with the going good to firm.

Tasleet (8/15 favourite) confirmed the promise of his debut by running away with the six furling for two year olds that began the evening's card.

Paul Hanagan had him disputing the lead until taking over soon after halfway and then he bounded clear in the last furlong.

The William Haggas-trained colt beat Bear Faced by three lengths and looks a useful prospect.

Next came a tricky six furlong handicap. Maymyo (9/1), initially settled in third by Dane O'Neill, was niggled along from halfway and took the lead at the furlong pole.

Great Expectations led a host of pursuers but Sylvester Kirk's gelding proved too strong at the finish and won by three quarters of a length.

Arc Cara had been knocking at the door in several maiden races and Tuesday saw his turn come in a seven furlong event.

The Ralph Beckett-trained 2/5 favourite followed the early leader until easing to the head of affairs three out.

Richard Kingscote drove him right out to score by nine lengths from Diamond Sam.

Richard Kingscote was on the scoresheet again half an hour later. He made all the running in the mile handicap on Pick A Little (7/4 favourite), who had gone down to the start early.

All out from the three furlong marker, but in control in the last furlong, the Michael Blake-trained gelding won by a length and three quarters from Living Leader.

Twice a winner at Brighton this season, he is being aimed at a race there in early August.

Caerphilly trainer Bernard Llewellyn's runners should be noted in Chepstow's longer races and so it proved in the two mile handicap when his grey Taste The Wine (10/1) beat stablemate Jolly Roger by a neck.

Both were held up until well into the straight.

Tom Marquand on Taste The Wine went to the front two out and stayed on well for the horse's fifth course win.

Jolly Roger took longer to get going and might be worth a try over a two mile, two furlongs run.

Since being campaigned over middle distances by Rod Millman Nora Batty (7/2 co fav) has shown glimpses of ability which she revealed on Tuesday by winning the one mile four furlong handicap.

She stalked the front-runner Surprise Us until being asked for an effort three out by Oisin Murphy.

The leader gamely refused to go down without a fight and only in the last 75 yards did Nora master him by half a length.

Paddy Pilley rode the winer of the 3.00 at Brighton and the apprentice added another to his tally in the 9.10 at Chepstow on Look Here's Al (9/2).

Three of the nine runners spoiled their chances at the start of the one mile two furlong handicap and another went off far too fast in front.

Al took the lead over a furlong and a half out and the Sarah Hollinshead-trained dark grey went on to a length and three quarter victory over Petrify.
