CHEPSTOW CC’s Under13 enjoyed a memorable day when they took part in the Welsh Cup Finals recently.
They qualified for the finals at the Swalec Stadium in Cardiff, beating teams from Cardiff, Newport and Lisvane.
Despite poor morning weather the Chepstow boys enjoyed a tour of the stadium as well as lounging around the changing room used by the England team during their recent Ashes victory.
The action started at 2.30pm - a 10-overs bash rather than the two 20-overs matches that had been arranged.
After scoring 90 runs, Chepstow beat Neath by two runs in their first match but then lost to Llay Welfare with two balls remaining leaving Neath winners of the Welsh U13 Cup on run rate.
The following day, Ben Kellaway (Wales U11s) scored 162 for Gwent U11s and Ryan Scrivens scored 114 not out in the Monmouthshire Shield U13 semi final against Abergavenny meaning Chepstow will have all three of their junior teams in the Finals due to be played at Malpas on Sunday, 30th August.
