CHEPSTOW 1st XI fell to a 38-run loss at Miskin Manor on Saturday chasing a target of 188-9 off 50 overs on Saturday.

The hosts reached 120-3 before the visitors' attack made inroads, Josh Tregaskes starring with the ball with four wickets for 45 off 10 overs, backed by single strikes for Filip Chitnis, Lewys Jones and Ben Hope-Bell.

But despite reaching 32 without loss in reply, the Chepstow batting then stuttered, soon reduced to 65-5.

Seventh man Harry Hughes fought back with 48 off 45 balls, including two sixes and two fours, forming a 42-run eighth-wicket partnership with Jones, who made 17 (148-8).

But despite more than 10 overs to play, the last two batsmen then failed to trouble the scoreboard, with the visitors 150 all out, leaving them third in South East Wales One.

The 2nds also lost by six wickets at home to Brecon 1sts after being dismissed for 108 in 33.5 overs, with only Luke Watson 18, Malith Madurasinghe 17 and Oliver Thornhill 11 in double figures.

Chepstow had the hosts 6-2 in reply, but Brecon steadied to reach 112-4 with nine overs to spare, Bruno Chitnis taking 3-22.

They then dismissed the visitors for 116 in 37 overs, Emerson snaring 4-16, and Swanson, Dai Richards and Chris Margetts taking wicket braces.

Unbeaten division leaders St Briavels also marched on, winning by 115 runs at home to Dymock 2nds.

Will Peters fired 81, Tyrone Hoskins 55 and Nathan Meredith 70 as the top three trio shared partnerships of 111 and 106, with the hosts reaching 272-8 in 40 overs.
