CHEPSTOW'S woes continued as the 1sts lost by 82 runs at home to South Wales Premier Two leaders Neath.

The visitors scored 209 all out in 46.3 overs, Filip Chitnis and Raahi Kumar both taking three wickets, and James Hall two.

But if the target seemed attainable, it proved anything but, as the hosts were quickly reduced to 6-2, and despite some resistance reaching 69-3, they then crumbled to 127 all out in less than 29 overs.

Harry Hughes top-scored with 30, but although five other batters reached double figures no one could post a sizeable amount.

The chance to turn things round 24 hours later away to Cardiff 1sts in the T20 Cup also proved fruitless, as the city side won by seven wickets.

Chepstow were 98 all out in 18.3 overs, only skipper Aaron Jones with 38 and Lloyd Bartlett 11 reaching double figures.

There was a glimmer of hope when the hosts were reduced to 25-2 thanks to wickets from James Hall and Rhys Leach, but Cardiff only lost one more wicket (64-3, Lewys Jones) before reaching 101-3 in 16.1 overs.

The 2nds also lost by 85 runs away to Vale 1sts in South East Wales 3 on Saturday, all out for 136 chasing 221-6 from 45 overs.

Josh Tregaskes snared two ducks in the 13th over for Chepstow, but scores of 110 and 76 saw Vale set a decent target.

And the visitors then suffered ducks of their own, with four scoreless dismissals, as 96-3 soon became 108-8 before the chase ended well short with 4.5 overs left to play.

The 3rds also suffered a 70-run home loss at the hands of Monkswood & Panteg 3rds, all out for 160 chasing a 40-over target of 230-8.

Chepstow 1sts hope it won't be 'a pocketful of mumbles' again when they host Mumbles CC this Saturday (July 4), while the 2nds travel to face Blackwood Town 1sts, and the 3rds host Lisvane 4ths.
