CHEPSTOW 1sts can secure the South East Wales One title and an immediate return to South Wales Premier 2 this weekend after a 161-run home win over Miskin Manor 1sts.

With two games left, they have a 32-point cushion over second-placed Panteg who they play away this Saturday in a mouth-watering table-top clash.

James Bishop's dismissal for a duck with no score on the board wasn't the best start for Chepstow, but a 118-run partnership between Aaron Jones (56) and Ben Sidney-Jones (54) set them on their way to 237 all out in 50 overs, Ben Hope-Bell also firing 38 and James Kellaway 19.

The hosts' attack then monstered Miskin, reducing them to 45-5 before dismissing them for a lowly 76 in 24 overs.

Lewys Jones – who played for the SEW Cricket League XI against the MCC at Ebbw Vale earlier this month – took 4-28-5, Hope-Bell 2-23-7, Jason Dobbie 2-19-10 and Filip Chitnis 2-3-2.1.

The 2nds won by a tighter 33 runs away to Brecon 1sts in a mid-table SEW 3 clash, as the sunny afternoon saw two Chepstow centurions and more than 600 runs.

Opener Malith Madurasinghe cracked a superb 150 not out off 150 balls, including 22 fours, and skipper Tuhin Gavand 101 off 90 balls, including 11 fours, sharing an unbeaten 266-run second wicket partnership, with the visitors reaching 319-1 off 45 overs.

Brecon weren't overawed though and mounted a decent reply before being dismissed for 286 in the 43rd over, Scott Williams taking 3-60, Andrew de Almeida 2-40, and Madurasinghe, Charlie Harkins and Philip Richardson one apiece, with Raahi Kumar securing two run outs and a catch.

But the 3rds lost by seven wickets away to Pontypridd 3rds after being restricted to 141-6 off 40 overs, Luca Goddard top-scoring with 40 backed by Jack Ward 31 and Miles Hebborn 25 not out.

Ponty then raced to 146-3 in 22 overs, Paul Phillips, Max Hunt and Rajendra Chitnis with the wickets.
