Chepstow Town Under 14s, who play in the East Gwent Junior Football League, have been proudly modelling their new kit sponsored by Weeks Fish and Chips in Chepstow.

The team were photographed before their home tie against Mardy Juniors on Sunday 6th October with the proud new sponsors, Dan Weeks and Katie Woods.

New striker Harry Thorne was the two-goal star when the teams met for this fixture. His first was from open play, following some fantastic work by Ethan Dunscombe and Ben Thomas.

The midfield duo of new signing Reg Bynon and club captain Harry Martyn dominated the possession throughout the match and were simply magnificent.

The early pressure resulted in a relaxed 2-0 half-time score line, even though the home team had a first half goal ruled out for offside, the second goal came as a result of an own goal by the Mardy defence.

From the start of the second half, Mardy came back into the game with some neat passing play but the Chepstow Town defence of Louis Bibby, George McCarron, Charlie Price and Lee Franklin withheld the early pressure and were supported by some great saves by new keeper James Maris-King.

It was soon evident that Chepstow Town had weathered the storm and added a third through Harry Thorne's superb finish after some great link up play with Ben Thomas and Joe Hopkins.

A fourth goal, and a Harry Thorne hat-trick was cruelly awarded off side, and Mardy were quick from the restart and made the score 3-1 with 10 minutes to go.

Chepstow stepped up the game in the final stages with Ben Thomas and Joe Hopkins adding their names to the score sheet.

The introduction of the second half substitutes Alzares Stephens, Ellis Roberts, Oliver Hayes and Joe Hopkins, allowed the home side to finish the game with a comfortable 5-1 victory in front of a great crowd of supporting parents.

Manager Jason Thorne said: 'The boys did themselves proud today; they were fantastic from the start to the finish and deserved the well fought victory.

"The new club shirt looked fantastic and I would like to express my sincere thanks to our kind new sponsors Weeks Fish and Chips for helping to support our great bunch of lads."

Man of the match was awarded to Reg Bynon.
