THE A466 south of Tintern is to reopen for Easter after it was closed due to work to minimise landslips and rockfalls.
The road was closed in February, with a spokesman for Monmouthshire County Council saying ‘discreet scaling’ would be carried out on the rock face.
The road is to reopen later today (Thursday 29th March) with temporary traffic lights in place.
In a statement on their website, Tintern Community Council said: “Following the recent temporary closure of the A466 by MCC, we have been notified that the road will be open again by Easter, but will probably be operated with temporary traffic lights. We understand that there will be a further road closure later in the year to finish essential work at the sites.
“We realise that residents have been unhappy about the recent closure and inadequate signage of diversions. If you have any suggestions how future closures can be more effectively implemented or any specific issues you wish to raise please contact us in time for our meeting on the 30th April.”
