MADAM,
So the overpaid executives of MCC, with their usual myopic concentration on short-term revenue-raising, justifying themselves with bogus ‘health and safety’ issues, are determined to ruin the small businesses of Church Street, and the essential character of Monmouth at the same time - because they can.
They’ve recently ruined Abergavenny by allowing the hugely ugly Morrison’s development. The irony, of course, is that Monmouth’s main supermarket, Waitrose, is allowed to clog up its main entrance with ever more racks of plant trays, A-boards etc, that makes ingress and egress like negotiating an obstacle course. (Do we need Waitrose to be a garden centre? I don’t think so.)
Why does Waitrose do it? Because it can get away with it. We are governed by total incompetents, why do we put up with them?
