NATURAL Resources Wales is urging people living along parts of the Wye estuary, particularly those in Tintern, to be prepared as high tides are forecast for tonight (17th October).

Flood Warnings are expected to be issued as high spring tides could cause some disruption on roads and, potentially, could affect some homes in the area.

The road at Tintern is expected to be closed due to the forecast tides reaching their peak.

High tides are forecast across Wales for the coming days and flood alerts have been issued elsewhere along the Welsh coast.

This could cause some low lying land and roads to flood but current forecast tide levels show very low levels of flood risk to homes.

Rick Park, Duty Tactical manager for Natural Resources Wales, said: “The astronomical tides are going to be very high over the coming days. But with relatively settled weather the risk of flooding to the majority of Wales is very low.

“We will see some impacts along the Wye Estuary, particularly in Tintern where we expect the road to close.”
