WITH the inaugural Velothon Wales visiting the region this weekend, final details of the event have been released.

The Velothon is set to become one of the biggest events on Britain's cycling calendar and will be held in south east Wales.

The route starts in Cardiff and heads out to Monmouthshire, passing through Usk, before participants ride out to the mountains to tackle some challenging climbs including the famous Tumle.

Sanctioned by the UCI – world cycling's governing body – around 15,000 recreational cyclists are set to take part alongside some of the top riders in the world.

Professionals such as five-time world champion and Olympic gold medallist Ed Clancy will be taking part, as well as teams such as the Great Britain Cycling Team and Team Wiggins.

The route heads to Usk, passing through Llangybi, before heading out towards Little Mill.
