MADAM,

If your group is planning to apply for a small grant to help its activities, there is still time. You have until 19th September.

Local voluntary groups and charitable organisations are warmly invited to apply for a modest community grant. Monmouth Town Council’s Community Affairs Committee has a budget of £8,000 to distribute for 2016/ 17.

A huge range of groups have been successful in the past including The Women’s Festival, Mobility Monmouth, People First, sports associations and choirs. Many have given very heart-warming presentations afterwards, describing how their grant was used.

The maximum grant towards a project is not normally more than £750. Applicants are asked to raise the rest, or at least 25 per cent of the whole project, themselves.

The committee aims to “support and strengthen community participation, activities and events, to help develop a sustainable, welcoming community”. Applicants must be able to demonstrate that a grant would enable them to contribute to these aims.

Full guidance and details can be downloaded from Monmouth Town Council website at www.monmouth.gov.uk or you can contact the town clerk at the Shire Hall, Monmouth NP25 3DY, or call 01600 715662.

The closing date for receipt of applications is Monday 19th September 2016.

We are looking forward to hearing from you,

Anthea Dewhurst,

(Chairwoman, Community Affairs Committee Monmouth Town Council)
