A RAGLAN nursery has once again supported British Heart Foundation (BHF) by donating spare clothes.

Children from Puddle Ducks nursery in Raglan have donated over 40 bags to the charity as part of the nursery’s Helping Hands Gang scheme.

“We’ve encouraged the children to create posters and go home and talk to their parents about the scheme and to talk to the other children,” said Sarah Richards who works at the nursery.

“It’s obviously worked really well because we’ve been able to collect 40 bags. We sent a bag home with every child and encouraged them to put things in their bag that they no longer want or need and bring them back for the BHF.

This is not the first time that Puddle Ducks have supported BHF. Last year, they donated bags for the “Bag It Beat It” appeal, and Sarah is pleased about the improvement this year.

“We supported the BHF in the first year that they ran the appeal, we sent bags last year and had a fair few and then this year they seemed to all remember and we’ve managed to collect 40.

“They understand that they’re giving up clothes that they’re no longer going to wear and it’s hopefully going to help someone with a bad heart.

Roger Cockbill, a volunteer with BHF, had major heart surgery a number of years ago and decided to give something back by supporting the charity.

“He comes to the children and explains where the money goes to and explains that if they didn’t raise all this money then he wouldn’t be as healthy as he is today,” Sarah continued.
