A NEW cycleway from Usk to Little Mill is to receive funding of £28,100 from Monmouthshire County Council (MCC) after cabinet approved the funding application on Wednesday 3rd February.
The funding comes as part of a Section 106 agreement following the development of the previous sawmill site at Little Mill. The application forms part of a larger project to develop the former Usk to Little Mill railway line for use as a footpath and cycleway. The funding will go towards establishing the section of the cycleway between the sawmill site at Little Mill and Rumble Street in Monkswood village.
The phase of works will be carried out by community group Usk Trail Access Group (UTAG) and its members.
Developers of the old sawmill site at Little Mill contributed £74,480 in total under the agreement, the amount shared between four MCC approved plans, including £12,095 to upgrade the village playground, £20,000 for a new wicket and changing rooms, and £14,285 towards new floodlights at Goytre playing field.
