A CALL is being made by a senior councillor to introduce a lower speed limit on roads throughout the county.
County Councillor Val Smith will submit a motion before the full meeting of Monmouthshire County Council (MCC) tomorrow (19th November) for councillors to discuss.
Councillor Smith asks MCC to note the human and financial cost of road traffic accidents and the risk of speed related accidents on rural roads.
The motion seeks to write to Welsh Government asking them to review their blanket policy of 60mph on rural roads.
Councillor Smith asks that the policy be reviewed in the interest of public safety and public finances.
