AFTER weeks of voting, Pegasus Hobbies & Games was named yesterday as the winner of Monmouth’s Remembrance Window Competition.

The town’s steering committee put out a call to arms more than a month ago, urging Monmouth’s shops to come together to create a united backdrop for the busy diary of Remembrance events.

Town favourites included Holland and Barrett, Blue Cross, Helmet Hers, Posies, Ernest Opticians, Triwall and of course the Beacon’s five-foot poppy; but Pegasus wowed voters with a roll-call of the men from Monmouth who lost their lives in the war.

Voting opened at the end of October and the votes from social media and postal votes to the Beacon were tallied yesterday. The top prize for Pegasus’ owner Stuart Hale is a hamper of local goodies.
