very best SIR There seems to be a current trend to consistently criticise the NHS and the Welsh NHS in particular. I have no doubt that in many instances the criticism is fully justified; in fact I have personally just submitted an enquiry as to why I am still waiting for an appointment following a GP's referral in August 2014. Having said that, on the basis of moaning when things go wrong, it is only fair to record when things go right. On Thursday of last week my wife attended Chippenham surgery and was immediately referred to the Emergency Assessment Unit in Abergavenny hospital. We arrived at about 10.15am and by 2.15pm we were on our way home. In those four hours my wife had seen a nurse who took her pulse, blood pressure and sample and completed a detailed questionnaire. She then saw a doctor who carried out a thorough examination which included an ECH and then sent her for X-rays on both her stomach and chest. She then saw a consultant who suggested an internal examination was called for. She was given a telephone number to call on Monday for a early appointment. This we have done and the appointment is made. This was an example of nursing care at its best. At all times the very busy staff were polite, helpful and extremely professional and we would like to record our very sincere appreciation for this excellent service. Mr T Crisp (Osbaston)
