The Night Shelter ended operations for this year on February 28. We were able to give shelter and hospitality to two men and while this was beneath capacity it meant a great deal to them. During their time with us Monmouthshire County Council and Llamau were able to work with them to find more permanent solutions which can be a frustratingly slow process, but we hope and trust neither will need to spend time sleeping rough again.
We also found ourselves unexpectedly in demand from MCC during the flooding. First it was to help with food provision when homes were initially evacuated and then for several subsequent nights to have the Night Shelter available if accommodation supply elsewhere proved insufficient, though ultimately this was not needed.
All involved want to thank the wider community for their support and we continue to look for the issue of homelessness to be effectively addressed, not only in Monmouth but also in the large cities across the nation where it is a major problem.
