MONMOUTH lady golfers clubbed together to pot an impressive £690 for St David’s Hospice Care.

The Monmouth Golf Club ladies section captain Chris Everett raised £390 for the charity during her year in office while colleague golfer Lindsey Watkins raising £300 by staging a fashion show.

Chris said: “I chose two charities to support during my year. St David’s Hospice Care was one and the other was Lymphona. I split the money that I raised equally between the two charities. We staged a variety of fund raising functions during the year including a hugely successful bridge evening which saw 12 tables of four in competition.

“St David’s Hospice Care does such wonderful work in our community so I was delighted to have been able to do my bit to support their work.”

Lindsey said: “The fashion show was a great success. We gained marvellous support from local Monmouth businesses such as Envy, M and Co, Hairbyjones, Salt and Pepper, Raft, Mono, Viyella and Elston, for which we are extremely grateful.”

St David’s Hospice Care Community Fundraiser Tania Ansell said: “We were thrilled to know that Monmouth Golf Club ladies were supporting us and went on to raise such a wonderful sum of money from their efforts. We can’t thank Chris and Lindsey and the rest of the ladies enough for all that they did to support us in this way.”
