THE British Army Masters rugby team will play a match against a Valley's Select XV at Taff's Well RFC on Saturday 21st March.

Coached by Monmouth-based WO2 Mark Reed from the Royal Monmouthshire Royal Engineers (Militia), the Army Masters team consists of serving soldiers who are over 35 years of age. They are current World Masters champions, a title they won in 2009 and retained in 2013.

Mark wears a number of hats as he coaches three different teams including the Army Masters side.

He also works with his regiment's side and 160 (Wales) Brigade, coaching on average ten days a month and combining the sport with his work recruiting for the Army Reserves.

The Army Masters side take on an invitational team lead by Dale McIntosh, the former Pontypridd, Barbarians and Wales back who is now defence coach at Cardiff Blues.

Kicking off at 10.45am, entrance to the game is free, with the clubhouse open afterwards to watch the Italy v Wales 6 Nations rugby game. There will also be a charity auction of the Army Masters players' rugby shirts and memorabilia, some of which will be donated by Cardiff Blues, to raise money for local and military charities
