MONMOUTHSHIRE County Council have received a petition from Kymin residents who are concerned about traffic speeding along the steep, single lane leading to The Kymin.

Traffic and Network Manager Paul Keeble confirmed the council had received the petition, and commented that “in response we will assess the situation by monitoring vehicle speeds and, if appropriate, consider possible further action.”

Monmouth AM Nick Ramsay contacted the County Council after receiving the petition, and welcomed news that a traffic survey is to be carried out to assess the need for a speed limit to be imposed on the road.

Speaking on Wednesday, Mr Ramsay said: “Local residents feel strongly that there is a very real need for a speed restriction on this stretch of road and will be pleased to learn that the council has confirmed that a survey is to be carried out.”
