THE Aneurin Bevan Health Board has announced more public consultations regarding changes to its mental health services which could see the closure of a dementia ward at Chepstow Community Hospital.

They have added three additional evening dates in Monmouthshire for public consolation after a strong reaction to their first few events.

These new events will be held in the evening, not during the day like the previous events.

In Chepstow a second consultation will be held on Monday 4th December between 5:30pm and 7pm at Bulwark Community Centre, NP16 5RF.

In Monmouth the second event will be held on Tuesday 5th December from 5pm to 6.30pm at the Shire Hall, NP25 3EA.

In Abergavenny the next event will be held on Wednesday 13th December from 5pm to 6.30pm at the Abergavenny Leisure Centre, NP7 6EP.

More evening and day events will be held Torfaen and Caerphilly in December.

These public consultation events specifically relate the the health board’s Older Adult Mental Health Redesign.

A report completed on issue suggested the closure of St Pierre Ward in Chepstow and the transfer of beds to Ysbyty Tri Chwm (YTC) in Ebbw Vale for North Monmouthshire and to Sycamore Ward, St Woolos in Newport for South Monmouthshire patients.
