MADAM,

I agree fully with the letter in last week’s Beacon about the need for a Wilkinson’s, Pound shop or B&M (‘Stores needed for essentials’).

We desperately need something like this to save having to go to Abergavenny.

I make regular trips there for household and pet products that I cannot get at comparable prices or at all in Monmouth. If not able to get to Abergavenny for the goods,then I buy on-line. Either way, no business generated in Monmouth.

The Budgens store is sited well and is the size that these companies require. Sadly they were doomed to failure as the goods are pricey and no delivery service.

The last thing Monmouth needs is another large empty store and I have emailed my comments to the town council.

Just shopping around Monmouth, you hear on a regular basis people complaining that there is a need for this type of store since Merlins closed.
