AN album inspired by the late popular Chepstow landlady
Alison Beasley has raised £7,000 for St David's Hospice Care.
The CD, which has been created in memory of the former landlady of the White Lion in Chepstow, has come together with the help of fifty friends and musicians.
Alison was well known for her love of music and those who knew her well thought that a charity album would be a fantastic thing to remember her by.
Produced by Paul Hobday, who met Alison as they were both receiving cancer treatment at Newport's Royal Gwent Hospital, the CD is the fulfilment of a promise they made to each other on the ward.
During treatment, the pair agreed that they would put together an album featuring the best local musicians – an idea that Paul held on to despite Alison's death in March 2014.
The CD was launched in December last year and has raised £7,000 already.
Lucy Fear, who was a friend of Alison's and helped put the album together, said: "Alison had a heart of gold. Music was her life and we all know that she would have loved what we came together to do in her memory by producing the album and staging the gigs.
"We're all absolutely thrilled that we were able to make the album and to have raised such a brilliant amount of money for St David's Hospice Care in Alison's memory."
Tania Ansell, of St David's Hospice Care, said: "The money raised by the Electric Landlady group is a huge testament to Alison's memory.
"We are extremely grateful to the group for raising this fantastic amount of money which will be put to very good use in helping us to provide our vital services within the community."
The last few copies of the Album, Electric Landlady: Music from the heart of the community, are available from St David's Hospice Care charity shops price £10
